Cambodian Folklore

A collection of folklore from Cambodia with morals for kids and adult. Feel free to share them.

The Kingdom of Cambodia is a constitutional monarchy in Southeast Asia. This country is the successor to the Khmer Empire which once ruled the entire Indochina Peninsula between the 11th and 14th centuries. Cambodia is bordered by Thailand to the west, Laos to the north, Vietnam to the east, and the Gulf of Thailand to the south. The Mekong River and Tonle Sap Lake cross the country.

In Cambodia there lived a man named Khek. One day, Khek wanted to sell his donkey. He then invited his son to go to the market to sell donkeys. Khek went to the market by holding his donkey. Khek thought that for his donkey to be valued at reasonable prices, he had to keep the donkey from being exhausted. When meeting people on the street, people then laugh at Khek for carrying a donkey.
