Tanzanian Folklore

A collection of folklore from Tanzania with morals for kids and adult. Feel free to share them.

Tanzania is mountainous and densely forested in the north-east, where Mount Kilimanjaro is located. Three of Africa's Great Lakes are partly within Tanzania. The name "Tanzania" was created as a clipped compound of the names of the two states that unified to create the country: Tanganyika and Zanzibar. It consists of the first three letters of the names of the two states ("Tan" and "Zan") and the suffix, "ia" to form Tanzania.

According to folklore, long ago in Tanzania there lived a teacher who was highly respected by his students. Guru Goso is his name. He is known to be very wise. He gives his students patience. In one day, as usual Teacher Goso gave his students lessons under a palm tree. Suddenly, a coconut fell and crashed into the head of Teacher Goso. As a result, teacher Goso passed out.
