Korea is a region in East Asia; since 1945 it has been divided into what are now two distinct sovereign states: North Korea (officially the "Democratic People's Republic of Korea") and South Korea (officially the "Republic of Korea"). Korea consists of the Korean Peninsula, Jeju Island, and several minor islands near the peninsula. It is bordered by China to the northwest and Russia to the northeast. It is separated from Japan to the east by the Korea Strait and the Sea of Japan (East Sea). 

In Koguryeo Kingdom, there lived a poor young man named Ondal. He lives with his elderly and widowed mother. Ondal is very loved of his mother. Whatever he will do to help his mother's life. By his neighbors, he was called a fool, because whatever he was told he would do as long as he could get a salary to help his mother. So the stupidity of Ondal is famous everywhere. 

In a kingdom, there is a king who is upset. He does not have a son who will be made the crown prince. All children are women. Until finally the king held a contest. He distributed plant seeds to all the youth in his country. "I want you to care for the seeds to grow beautiful flowers. Who will grow the most beautiful flowers will I make an adopted child as my successor later! ” the king exclaimed.

In a village, there lived a poor girl named Simcheong. Simcheong lives with his father who is blind. Because they were very poor, Simcheong asked permission from his father to find work in the city.

According to fairy tales, long ago in a kingdom in Korea, ruled a king. According to many people, the King has a magic stone. The magic stone, if rotated, will grant all the requests of those who turn it around. 

Three Heritage objects
In a village, there lived a mother who lived with her three sons. The mother is old. When her mother was very ill, she advised to give an inheritance to each of her three sons.
