In a kingdom, in Korea, there is a king who is upset. He does not have a son who will be made the crown prince. All children are women.
Until finally the king held a contest. He distributed plant seeds to all the youth in his country. "I want you to care for the seeds to grow beautiful flowers. Who will grow the most beautiful flowers will I make an adopted child as my successor later! ” the king exclaimed.
The young men plant the seeds and care for them. One young man named Yongtu took care of the seeds of the plant with great care. However, after one month, the plant did not grow at all. There is no sign of a single embryo.
"Yongtu, try changing the container, maybe the container is too small for the plant," suggested his mother. Yongtu finally followed his mother's advice, but still the plant did not grow.
When the appointed time comes, the young people in the country come with their plants. Their plants are so beautiful, they bloom perfectly. The king looked at the plants that the young man brought one by one. The king's face looked displeased.
In the very back corner, the king saw a young man who was lethargic with a pot containing only the earth. There are no plants that grow in the pot.
The king asked "why are you sad? where is your plant? "
"Sorry, Your Majesty, I have tried to care for the seeds of the plant you gave, but after time has passed, nothing has grown from them," Yongtu answered sadly.
The king smiled broadly and laughed, then exclaimed "I have found the young man who will be my adopted son".
The young men present were shocked. "Your Majesty, how can you appoint this young man to be your child, even though not a single plant grows in his pot?"
"Do you know? the seeds of plants that I gave you have been boiled before. So it will not be possible to grow. This young man has proven his honesty! " said the king.
The young men present to win the contest bowed in shame. They realize that the seeds of the plants they care for previously did not grow, but they replaced them with other plants so they could grow beautifully.
Honesty will bring good luck. Yongtu was finally appointed by the king to be his adopted son.
