In a village, in Korea, there lived a poor girl named Simcheong. Simcheong lives with his father who is blind. Because they were very poor, Simcheong asked permission from his father to find work in the city.
When returning from the city, Simcheong's trip was interrupted by a snowstorm. While at home, his father was worried about Simcheong's return. So her father tried to pick Simcheong to go home. But on the way, he slipped and entered the river. A monk saved Simcheong's father.
"Can you not see?" the monk asked.
"Yes, I'm blind, can you help me to see again?" asked the father.
The monk answered "yes, but you have to donate 300 bags of rice to the temple where I am."
Simceong's father wants to be willing, he hopes a miracle will happen. After arriving home, it turns out Simcheong had returned. Her father recounted the conversation with the monk earlier. Simcheong wants to help so that her father can see again. However, 300 bags of rice are very heavy for them. They are very poor. Because she wanted to serve her father, she wanted to fulfill that condition.
Meanwhile, a merchant ship in the city is looking for a girl to be victimized so he can survive until his destination when crossing the sea. Simcheong went to the merchant and said she was willing to be a victim.
"I am willing to be victimizing, provided you want to send 300 sacks of rice to my house, before you go sailing," Simcheong pleaded.
The ship's merchant agreed. He mobilized his men to send 300 sacks of rice to Simcheong's house.
Finally, Simcheong sailed along with the ship's merchant and his entourage. When he reached the dangerous area, Simcheong began to be prepared to be thrown into the sea. Before being deployed, Simcheong prayed that God would protect her father if she no longer existed. Until finally, Simcheong was thrown into the sea.
However, a miracle happened. In the sea Simcheong is not dead. She even saw how beautiful the view of the sea.
"Why didn't I die?" thought Simcheong.
"You are in the kingdom of the sea. I am the king here. You saved me because you served your parents, "answered the king of the sea, who was suddenly in front of Simcheong.
"Oh thank you, if so, can you please take me back? I really want to see my father, "pleaded Simcheong.
"Of course, close your eyes," commanded the king of the sea.
Simcheong closed her eyes. In an instant, she was stranded on the beach. Villagers gathered around her.
It so happened that a prince was visiting a fishing village. He brought Simcheong to the palace to care for her.
A few days later, Simceong returned to health and refreshed. Her facial beauty began to shine again. The prince fell in love with Simcheong. Simcheong then told of her past so he could be stranded to the beach. Finally the prince asked Simcheong to become his wife. They finally married and lived happily. Simcheong also brought her father who could already see the palace.
Message from the story: We must always be loyal to our parents, because they have cared for us lovingly.
