The Princess and The Idiot (Korea)

In Koguryeo Kingdom, in Korea, there lived a poor young man named Ondal. He lives with his elderly and widowed mother. Ondal is very loved of his mother. Whatever he will do to help his mother's life. By his neighbors, he was called a fool, because whatever he was told he would do as long as he could get a salary to help his mother. So the stupidity of Ondal is famous everywhere.

"Try to copy how a monkey walks!" his neighbor exclaimed one day. Ondal did it and he got paid to buy his mother's food. Ondal never cared about mocking others, as long as he could support his mother's life.

In the palace, the king became dizzy by the nature of his daughter who likes to cry. The princess's name is Pyeongkang. So that the princess does not cry anymore, the king often mocks his daughter "already, shut up my child. Otherwise you will be married to Ondal ".

When the princess had begun to mature, the king intended to marry her to a prince from a foreign country, but the princess refused. "Father once said that I will be married to Ondal, I just want to marry Ondal!" said the princess. The king was very angry and immediately his daughter could no longer be persuaded, the king drove the princess away. The king cannot imagine if his daughter marries a stupid beggar.

The princess finally left the palace. He brought some of her jewelry and silk cloth. She went to the village to look for Ondal. Ondal and his mother accept the arrival of the princess with disbelief. But they were grateful for the Princess Pyeongkang's trust in them. The princess sells her jewelry and silk cloth. Princess Pyeongkang also teaches Ondal not to be stupid.

One time, the Kingdom of Koguryeo got an attack from the opposite kingdom. The battle finally took place, and the Kingdom of Koguryeo won because of the struggle of an unknown young man who led the war.

The king then called the young man to thank and give appreciation. The young man turned out to be The Ondal. The stupid beggar who has been the subject of teasing to Princess Pyeongkang. The king feels ashamed of himself. It turned out that the young man who was considered a fool and being a laughing stock was a young man who saved his kingdom. The king finally appointed Ondal to be the commander in chief. Then marry The Ondal with his daughter. So that General Ondal and Princess Pyeongkang lived happily ever after.

Message from the story: There are no fools. Anyone will be smart and useful, as long as they want to learn.
