The Origin of the Coconut Tree (American)

Chamorro's custom is eating coconut.

As a sign of Chamorro's love for the coconut tree, they made the coconut fruit as a staple food.

Once upon a time, a long time ago there was a beautiful girl in the village of the Achote tribe.

The Achote villagers loved the girl very much because of her kindness.

One day the girl was very ill.

Both of his parents have brought many magicians to heal her, but none of them managed to cure her.

Instead of the disease even worse.

Both parents feel sad about the situation of their daughter.

They will grant whatever their daughter requests.

"Mom. I want to drink water in fruit whose flesh is white. " the girl ask their parents.

Her parents are confused by his daughter's request.

They do not know what kind of fruit contains water with white flesh.

All the villagers tried to help find the fruit but were also not found.

Until finally the beautiful princess died without having time to drink the water he wanted.

The beautiful child is then buried on a hill.

Her parents were very sad with the departure of his beautiful daughter.

Every day the villagers visit the tomb of a beautiful child to offer prayers for her.

One day a visitor to the tomb of the girl was shocked by the presence of a strange tree above the tomb.

The beautiful girl's parents then cared for the strange tree.

After several years passed, the strange tree has become towering height.

On top of the tree grows round fruit.

But none of the villagers dared to eat it.

Until finally there is a fruit falling to the ground.

The villagers picked it up and then gave it to the parents of the beautiful child.

Carefully, the parents of the beautiful child cut the strange fruit.

It turns out that the flesh of the fruit is white & contains water just like the fruit of the beautiful child's request.

Since then the Chamorro tribe has named the strange fruit a coconut.

The Chamorro people made it their staple food as a tribute to the beautiful child.

Message from the story: the good children will be liked by everyone.
