Tears Of Princess Tislet (Marocco)

The Tears of Princess Tislet is Moroccan folklore. Ait Haddidou chieftain had a daughter named Princess Tislet. Because of the advice of the fortune teller, Putri Tislet was asked to remain on the hill, separate from her parents. According to fortune tellers, when the princess is an adult, she will be married to the enemy tribal son Ait Haddidou. Therefore, she must be exiled.

At the top of the hill, Princess Tislet does not live alone. She is accompanied by a caregiver. Every week, her parents come to visit. However, Princess Tislet never asked her father why she had to live separately.

Every day, Princess Tislet always plays with birds on the hilltop. There is a bird who is a lover of Princess Tislet, a dove. Wherever the pigeons go, he will always return to the residence of Princess Tislet.

One day, the pigeon had not returned to the princess's place. it makes the princess feel anxious. She was worried something would happen to her beloved bird. She couldn't sleep all night because he was worried about pigeons.

The next day, a boy arrives to deliver the dove to the princess. The boy named Isli. He said that the pigeon was accidentally exposed by his slingshot. "Sorry, the pigeon got shot by my slingshot. Because this pigeon can't fly, I finally drove it here. This pigeon is very smart. He can show you the way here."

Princess Tislet is very angry because her birds are hurt by slingshots and cannot fly. But the nanny reassured her by saying that the boy had shot the bird accidentally. Since then, Isli and Princess Tislet have become good friends. They often play together.

As usual, once a week, Princes's parents visit her daughter on a hilltop. When they met with Isli, they asked about Isli's family. Both of them were surprised when they learned that Isli turned out to be the son of an enemy of the chief of the Ait Haddidou tribe.

Princess Tislet's father was very angry. He ordered his daughter to stay away from Isli and return to the village. Princess Tislet refused. She cried so that all her tears wet the ground. As a result, the land turns to mud. Even the little girl's body was carried to the mud. When Isli saw her, Isli did not remain silent. He tried to help Princess Tislet but he failed. Instead, Isli's body was completely carried into the mud too. Shortly thereafter, Princess Tislet's tears flooded the area. In the end, the place turned into a lake.

message from the story: regret happens at the end, but regret is of no use.
