In ancient times, in Japan, there was a husband and wife who really wanted to have children. Therefore, they are very diligent to the temple to pray to be blessed with a child.
One day when returning from the temple, they heard the sound of crying babies coming from bushes. They immediately headed there. They found a little baby behind the grass.
"What a pity this little baby," said the wife who held the little baby. "Maybe this is the answer to our prayers, we should take it and we raise it lovingly".
The baby was treated with great affection. However, his body was never large, only 3 sun (3 centimeters) tall, so he was called Issun Boshi or one sun monk.
As an adult, Issun Boshi intends to wander. He asked permission from parents who had raised him. Despite his heavy heart, finally his parents allowed Issun Boshi to wander.
"My son, bring these tools to protect you on the way," said the mother. She gave a needle as a sword, a bowl for sailing, and a pair of chopsticks for rowing.
Issun Boshi finally went far. Arriving at the river, he used a wooden bowl his mother gave him to go down the river using chopsticks. However, suddenly a frog jumped and crashed into it. Issun Boshi entered the river, but he could swim.
Arriving at a mainland, Issun Boshi pulled over. He found a very large and beautiful house, he intends to enter the house to find work. It turns out that a very large house is a royal palace.
The king is walking in the palace courtyard. Finally, Issun Boshi ventured to say hello.
"Excuse me, sir, may I work here?" Asked Issun Boshi.
Hearing Issun Boshi's words, the king instead searched for the source of the sound.
"I'm here, under ...!" exclaimed Issun Boshi.
The king then bowed his body. He found a small creature standing proudly with a needle as his sword.
"Is that your voice, little knight?" asked the king.
"Yes, it's me, sir, I'm here to look for work," answered Issun Boshi. "Can I work as your bodyguard?"
The king was caught listening to Issun Boshi's request. However, Issun Boshi did not give up.
"My body is a little, my king, but my ability to fight can protect you." Said Issun Boshi.
The king nodded his head. "Well then, you are not my bodyguard, but my daughter's bodyguard".
Issun Boshi finally began working as a personal bodyguard of the beautiful princess. They are both very close, always playing and traveling together.
One day, Issun Boshi drove the princess to a temple to worship. Apparently, they are accompanied by green demons. The green devil carries a magic hammer. The creature was trying to capture the princess.
Issun Boshi tried to help the princess by climbing the green demon's head and jumping into her mouth to rip the green demon's mouth. Creepy creatures with extreme pain. His voice was blaring to everywhere. Issun Boshi was thrown out of the green demon's mouth. The green demon ran away and the magic hammer fell.
The princess told the magic hammer "This hammer is a magic hammer. He can grant all our requests. " The princess then moved the hammer while making a request "I beg to make Issun Boshi a normal human being."
Instantly, Issun Boshi changed into a human form in general with a handsome face. Arriving at the palace, the king was confused seeing the presence of a handsome young man with his beautiful daughter. The princess and Issun Boshi told everything.
Hearing all that, the king married his daughter to Issun Boshi. Issun Boshi and the princess live happily ever after.
Message from the story: an imperfect body must not prevent someone from doing good.
