In ancient times, in Japan, there was a young man who was known to be kind and diligent at work. One time, the man passed a river. On the way, his feet caught in a cloth. Finally the cloth is taken and stored in a basket that he carries. However, a beautiful woman approached the young man. "Did you find my angel's shirt?, Asked the beautiful woman.
Because the young man knew that the beautiful woman was an angel, this young man then lied. "No, I didn't find your angel's dress." The young man answered, finally this beautiful woman could not return to heaven, so the young man offered to stay and marry her, and finally they lived happily, and she was known as Princess Tanabata.
Some time later, a dove accidentally found the Princess Tanabata angel's clothes. Princess Tanabata was surprised and happy because she could return to heaven when she wore the clothes. However, she was sad because she had to separate from her husband. "My love, I have found my angel's dress," said the Princess Tanabata "I must return to heaven". "What about my fate ?, I will definitely be sad because it was abandoned by you," said the young man. Putri Tanabata asked her husband to make 1000 pairs of straw sandals and plant them under a bamboo tree. This is intended so that the young man and Princess Tanabata can meet again.
For months the young man made straw sandals. He really missed his wife, Princess Tanabata. He had thought that the sandals had reached 1,000 pairs, until finally he buried them under a bamboo tree. Finally the bamboo tree rose and almost touched the sky. However, sandals made by these young men only 999 pairs. So, the height of the bamboo tree is less than one step to reach the sky. The young man called Princess Tanabata, his wife. Princess Tanabata heard that voice. They finally met and were very happy. But Princess Tanabata's father was not happy with the presence of his son-in-law who came from the earth.
"Who is this young man?" asked Princess Tanabata's father who looked upset.
"He is my husband, Dad, we met when I went to earth," answered Princess Tanabata.
"Alright, you may stay here, but you must be in charge of guarding the pumpkin garden in heaven for 3 days," said Princess Tanabata's father.
Princess Tanabata advised her husband not to eat pumpkin in heaven. But at one time, the young man who was guarding the pumpkin garden felt very hot air, so he took the pumpkin and cut it off as an antidote to thirst. Strangeness ensued, the pumpkin issued so much water that it became a river.
The actions of these young men caused them to eventually have to separate. They can only meet on July 7.
