In a village, in Japan, there is a very poor farmer named Taro. The poor peasant always prayed to the temple to escape poverty. Taro was very diligent at the temple, until one day, he fell asleep after praying at the temple.
Taro dreamed, in his dream he got a whisper. "Taro, take the object that you find tomorrow, because it will bring a big change to your life!"
In the morning, Taro woke up from his sleep. He then set foot leaving the temple. But he stumbled. He studied the object that made his feet trip, it turned out to be a handful of straw.
"Will this straw bring a change in my life?" Taro thought. But finally Taro decided to bring the straw.
When Taro walked, a fly flew over to Taro. Disrupted, Taro then catches the fly and ties it to the end of the hemp. Flies also fly around in circles while tied to straw.
A child sees Taro carrying straw that binds the fly. "Mom, I want the toy!" the child exclaimed to his mother.
The mother approached Taro and said, "Sir, may you give the toy fly to my child? instead, you can take these 3 oranges."
Taro finally gave the toy fly to the mother and child.
Taro finally goes on. However, he met an old woman who was thirsty. "Son, do you know where the nearest spring is in this area? I am thirsty". Ask the old woman.
"The spring is quite far from this area, Grandma, just take this orange fruit for you," answered Taro who felt sorry for the old woman.
"You're very kind, my son. Instead, take 3 rolls of woven fabric, "said the old woman.
"Well thank you, Grandma," said Taro who was very happy to receive the gift of the old woman.
On the next trip, Taro meets a samurai and his bodyguard. The samurai's horse fell and could not get up again. "What should we do while this horse cannot walk anymore, sir? even though we are in a hurry "said the samurai guards.
Taro offered them to take the horse and care for it to be as healthy as before. In exchange, Taro gave 3 cloths to the samurai. Taro finally took care of the horse until healed.
One time, Taro took a walk with his horse. He met a man who was moving his belongings. It seems he will move house.
Taro approached and asked "do you need a horse to transport the goods?"
"Wow, your horse is very healthy, I need this horse, but I have no money. In exchange, you may have my fields, "answered the man.
Taro finally exchanged his horse for the vast rice field, Taro was very happy with the vast rice field he had.
"I will travel far, will you keep my house? you can occupy my house while guarding your fields, "the man begged.
Finally Taro cultivates his rice fields with joy. He planted the land with rice and other plants. Until he became a wealthy farmer and married a beautiful girl in the village. All that, only comes from a straw.
Message from the story: hard work and a sincere heart will bring good results.
